BIO RICK VIO

Quality comes naturally. Rick Vio is at the start of his career as minimal/techno DJ, but he already performed on some big raves/ festivals a lot of DJ’s can only dream of. And there is more to come! Rick Vio is the alias of Rick Nabuurs, born in a small village in the south of the Netherlands, in year 1986. In 2002 he visited his first techno rave en was immediately addicted to the scene. “I went to a lot of parties since then”, he laughs. “I guess I could have bought myself a nice car of all the money I spent on partying. But it was worth every single penny!”

Techno

At parties Rick Vio usually was busier watching the DJ then enjoying the party itself, waiting for his moment to come. In 2005, he discovered the turntables. From then, after a few years of experimenting with different styles of house music, he became fascinated by the fantastic sounds of Techno. The Awakenings parties opened his eyes once and for all. “That’s where it all happened for me.” Inspired by Alex Under, Adam Beyer, Richie Hawtin and many more he decided to focus and specialize his style on the more minimalistic pounding techno genre. In the beginning of 2009 he got invited to join the resident DJ crew of the organization ‘Vier’, and he did.

Highlights

After his first public appearance in 2006, things went quick for Rick Vio. In 2008 and 2009 he did an average of thirty shows a year, proving he’s quite a busy guy. Highlights up till now are the performances at Via Via (2007), Planet Rose and Planet Rose Special (2008), all in underground nightclub Doornroosje, Nijmegen City. He also played in Paradiso (Amsterdam) at Voltt (2008). One of his biggest achievements was the Energie Azurara Festival on the beach of Vila do Conde in Porto, Portugal, August 2009. In November Darko Esser invited him for the seventh edition of Electric Deluxe with Speedy J and Tommy 47. An honor!

Future

In the meantime Rick Vio has entered a new stage in his evolution. He’s going to focus on producing his own tracks. One thing is sure Rick has the Techno virus running trough his vein’s... To be continued!
